Summer Body Tip 9

Stretch after every workout.  Flexibility affects all other aspects of fitness so its in your best intrest to stretch.  The body needs to be warmed up before it's stretched that's why you should stretch after, not before each workout.  Also stretching puts your muscles in their most relaxed state which makes them weaker because they can't contract as hard and fast as usual, so that's another good reason to leave it for last.

Stay positive. This is as much mental as it is physical. Remember like attracts like, so positive thoughts will attract positive results. If positive thoughts attract positive results then obviously negitive thoughts will attract negitive results. If you stay positive your sure to reach your goals, this applies not just to fitness but to all aspect of life.

Summer Body Tip 7

Take at least 1 rest day a week.  If you train too much you run the risk of overtraining which is counter productive to what your trying to accomplish.  Also Your body doesn't change while your awake, especially if your trying to build muscle.  Your body grows while you sleep, so make sure you get at least 6 hours of rest each night.

Do your strength traininig before your cardio training.  The reson for this is because your body uses 3 different time of energy systems and it uses them in the same order.   Your body will first use the ATP/cp energy system which is used up quickly, then switch to using glucose which last for quite some time depending on your carb intake.  Lastly your body will burn fat as energy which is not something your body naturally like to do and it's not a good energy system for strength traing.  Do your strength training first so that you utilize the first 2 energy systems and get more out of your strength training then do your cardio.  This will ensure then your body is burning fat while you do your cardio which is what you want.

Water is the great purifier so drink plenty of it. Ideally you want to drink at least a gallon a day. Now that may seem like a lot but think about it for a second, your body is 65% water. Dinking enough water helps your body perform optimally and can help speed up the time it takes for you to reach your fitness goals.

It’s almost impossible to get all the micro-nutrients you need for your body to perform optimally just by eating. So taking a multivitamin and mineral supplement is a good idea.

    If you don't plan on competing as a bodybuilder stop training like one.  Bodybuilders tend to go with split routines because we completely deplete the glycogen level of the muscle group we train then give it about 5 to 7 days to completely recover.  This allows the muscle to grow bigger and stronger.  However if you're working out simply to lose weight, look good, and improve health you'll be more successful if you do a full body workout each session and train circuit style.  Work your body just as you build a house, from the ground up.  An example of a good circuit training routine is SQUATS, STIFF LEG DEADLIFT, BENCH PRESS, BARBELL ROW, MILITARY PRESS, BARBELL CURLS and TRICEPS EXENSION.  As you can see you start with the legs, hitting the quads then hamstrings, two opposing muscle groups.  The upper body is trained in a push/pull style.  This is very effective because when one muscle group is resting the opposite muscle is working, which actually speeds up recovery.  Also because you never stop to rest until you complete the circuit, your heart and lungs have to work that much harder which gives you great cardiovascular benefits.

Summer Body Tip 2

If you want to change your body you must first change how you eat.  Eating more frequent meals helps keep your metabolism high so try eating every 2 to 3 hours.  This doesn’t mean that you should be pigging out you should just split up what you eat now and make 5 to 7 meals out of it instead of the 3, 2 or even 1 meal you eat a day now.  Always stop eating before you are full.

Summer Body Tip 1

Cardio is very important for weight loss.  I recomend that you do 45 minutes of cardio at least 3 days a week.  My favorite is interval traininig on the tredmill.  Run as fast as you can for 2 minutes then jog for 3 minutes to recover and then repeat.
