Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment. We must judge according to the truth of things, lest men turn us from the truth and carry us away. Have patience and engage in consistent action. Things don’t always happen when we want them to happen, they don’t happen quickly. We are living in a world where everyone wants instant gratification, we want so much but so rarely are willing to pay the price. Never forget everything comes at a cost. The price of fitness is time, discipline, consistency and perseverance.
It is simple to achieve anything but make no mistake, it’s hard. You are the determining factor, easy is not an option. You just have to remind yourself that it’s worth it.

Time is your most valuable resource because it is finite. At some point yours will be up. The good news is even though being fit cost time it also gives it back. The fitter you are the better your quality of life. You will be able to do more in less time. This increased efficiency and productivity comes from all the endorphins your body releases during exercise. These endorphins interact with the receptors in your brain that reduce your perception of pain. Endorphins also trigger a positive feeling in the body, similar to that of morphine. Many studies show that people who exercise regularly benefit with a positive boost in mood and lower rates of depression. So there you have it, exercise is a natural self-esteem booster.

Sooner or later our souls will return to the maker. And the things you have stored up - whose will they be?

You can’t take anything with you when you die, and at that point it’s too late to do the things you always wanted to do. So personally I think there are a few things you should always remember to do:

  • keep yourself healthy and good, physically, emotionally and spiritually
  • love and enjoy the people around you
  • learn about your gifts and passions and do good work to help improve the world
  • be generous with what you have
  • savor everyday and make the most out of life

Our possessions are temporary. They will not last. They will fade away. We invest our emotions in them because when we acquire them, they give us a sense of thrill. And we think the thrill will last. But it does not. It fades. And eventually, so will what we acquire. There is only one thing that is not temporary. There is only one thing that you will be able to take from this life to the next, people.
With all that said, stop being too busy chasing things in life to really enjoy life. Whatever you chase will elude you. The same way if you pray for patience you will get many trials and tribulations. It's time you stop making excuses and focus on the things that actually matter, you and the people around you.

We are always looking outward for that which we desire. However if we were to take time to look within we would soon realize that we already have it, in fact we are it….(I’d like to get far more in-depth but I’m afraid I’ll lose you)

The reason I love fitness is because it is a constant reminder of this fact. Let’s take the two most common fitness goals, lose weight or build muscle. Weight loss is simply an emptying of your fat cells, you don’t actually lose anything. From the day you are born you have the same exact amount of fat cells till the day you die. They simply empty or fill and as a result you change externally. The same is true for muscle building. You are born with the same amount of muscle fibers. Try as you might you can’t build any new muscle, all you can do is make the ones you already have expand by increasing their density. So in both cases the external you is simply a manifestation of the internal you. Knowing this you should realize that you can give up control and stop fighting yourself. Which will give you an access of power because you won’t be wasting energy in self defense trying to manage things and force things to conform to your will. That wasted energy will be available to you.

It’s not suppose to be easy. In fact I’m glad that it’s not. Over the course of human evolution we’ve reduced the amount of physical labor that we have to do and increased the time we spend sedentary. Back when we were hunters and gathers we were far more functional if for no other reason than we had to be. You had to chase your food and at times be chased by it. So your life revolved around the fight or flight instinct.

In todays world you can get any time of food you desire by simple walking in the supermarket. You don’t even have to walk, you can get one of those scooters (man I hate those things). This is one of the biggest reasons why starting an active lifestyle is so difficult. Our world isn’t designed for it and so it takes a great deal of effort to condition our mind to it. Here’s the kicker it really only take 2 weeks of consistent work to develop neuromuscular efficiency. Now I don’t want to get too technical, so neuromuscular efficiency is basically conditioning. It’s when your nervous system can effectively communicate with your muscular system. Your nervous system dictates all movement and because the body is designed for self preservation it causes funky things to happen in an effort to protect you from harm. The most common response to what the nervous system perceives a over exertion is vomiting which forces you to stop all activity. Even though it only takes 2 weeks of consistently working out to develop neuromuscular efficiency if you are inconsistent it can take forever.
